Default AVO Domaine No. 20

Cigar: Avo Domaine

A cigar produced by Avo Uvezian and Henkie Kellner with tobacco from Avo's "Finca Domaine" in the Dominican Republic, it is reported to be a fuller-bodied cigar than the typical AVO line.

Being a pianist and enjoying both jazz and cigars, I can't help but be drawn to Avo Uvezian. I enjoy the subtle flavors and creaminess of his typical line - I was looking forward to smoking this one after it arrived with my DogWatch Cigar Club packet last month.

Vitola/Size: No. 20 (4.63 x 50)
Wrapper: Connecticut seed Ecuadorian Sungrown
Binder: Dominican San Vicente Ligero
Filler: Dominican San Vicente - Finca AVO, Piloto Olor
Price: received as part of DogWatch Cigar Club, but can be found for about $9 per single

Pre-Smoke
Appearance: this is just a beautiful perfect short perfecto; there is a classy AVO band with brown-maroon coloring and silver leaf
Wrapper Color: light brown
Feel: firm with just the right give

Smoke
Taste 1st third: the initial taste is hint wood with some nut; hints of straw peak through, but the wood and nut dominate
Taste 2nd third: dry nut is the predominate taste, but a gin-like flowery taste begins to appear
Taste 3rd third: dry tannic and nut taste builds stronger; the gin-like flowery tastse intermittently appears - very enjoyable
Strength: medium plus
Feeling: creamy with a very smooth and capable retrohale
Character of Smoke: thick and billowy
Heat on Fingers and in Mouth: cool
Draw: perfect
Finish: long, nutty
Construction: perfect; ash drops in 1" chunks
Other aspects: punch cut; Blazer Z-plus insert used to easily light the small foot; 85° with 46% humidity and average wind of 6mph; smoke lasted 1 hour
Drink: Diet Dr Pepper

Like It: yes
Buy It Again: yes
Recommend It: yes - very good $6 cigar

Great review. I have a 5'er of these that have been resting for a year or two. I need to get one out and light it up.

Very nice review, Bill! The gin-like flower taste sounds very nice. Thanks for sharing.
